Jayda Pitter
Jayda Pitter is a Jamaican writer whose work centers on themes of love, family, and womanhood. With a strong foundation in poetry and prose, her writing has been featured in publications such as PREE Literary Magazine and Meeting Ground. In recent years, Jayda has begun to expand her storytelling practice into screenwriting, with Farrin marking her first feature-length script.
She views writing as a vital way to explore contemporary Jamaican life and is especially drawn to stories that reflect the layered experiences of Caribbean people. Jayda believes that Farrin contributes meaningfully to the broader conversation around migration—engaging with it not through idealization or judgment, but with empathy and complexity.
As a participant in the WIFTJa Screenwriting Accelerator Programme, Jayda hopes to connect with a community of creatives committed to authentic storytelling. She is excited to contribute to the evolving representation of Jamaican women in film and television.
